Brevik camping
welcomes you to stay totally relaxed in a quiet place yet with the
cities of Hjo and Karlsborg close by. The camp, surrounded by the
beautiful Swedish nature and a sandy beach of lake Vättern, offers
you a great number of fit-keeping tracks while others invite you to
enjoy the scenery on longer or shorter walks. The lake with its
perfectly clean water calls for swimming and fishing and the region
itself provides many historical places to “discover” on day trips on
a bike or in a car. In August every year the camp arranges an
accordion festival (dragspelsstämma) attracting a great number of
accordionists and people enjoying the Swedish accordion music.
Brevik camping offers you indeed a possibility to “charge your
batteries” before moving on.

Some places to visit or to do
Hjo
is located about 18 KM south of Brevik offers you a number of
restaurants and a pleasure boat harbour among a number of shops and
banking facilities. A 50 m swimming pool cools you of on the hot
days and strolling around looking at the amazingly well conserved
houses dating back hundred of years is a must.
Karlsborg
is located about 15 Km to the north of Brevik. The famous fortress
was mainly constructed in the first half of the 19th
century is still operational. Guided tours are provided and
restaurants, cafés and shops are housed within the walls. Karlsborg
was once intended to safeguard the Royal family and the gold reserve
in case of hostilities or war.
Göta kanal
crosses the country just north of Karlsborg. It is
often referred to as “the blue band of Sweden” or the less
encouraging “the divorce ditch”. It is a pleasure watching the boats
passing by and the operation of the numerous locks. Passenger boats
offer a variety of tours spanning from one day to one entire week on
the canal.
In
Forsvik,
not far from
Karlsborg, you can see the oldest floodgate in the system. When you
visit Forsvik we definitely think you should
take a trip with a fantastic steamboat on the canal, the captain, has
stories to tell.
Tiveden
is a National Park located a few KM north of Karlsborg provides a
magnificent part of ancient Swedish forest. A perfect target for a
day trip.
Golf courses. The close by located Breviken GK offers
a full service restaurant should you whish to have your lunch
prepared by the kitchen while you take a rest. The other courses are
Hökensås GK and Knistad G&CC.
Biking around lake Vättern. The yearly bicycle
competition around the lake takes place in June and calls about 15
thousand people to give it a try some covering the distance in less
than 8 hours while others use up to a full day and night. A
challenge also for the very sporty person.
